About the Position

An exciting opportunity to join the General Dynamics Engineering Leadership team. You will be part of a group that interfaces with all facets of the Engineering organization which enables relationship building & collaboration with other leaders. We are looking for an innovative change maker that is passionate about cultivating a team and thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment. As the leader of the Engineering Operational Excellence & Business Operations team, you will lead a team that is accountable for a wide variety of activities. The team’s responsibilities include continuous improvement, knowledge management, overhead budgets and support to capital planning, new business proposal development, facility re-configurations and process documentation within the Engineering organization.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect

Leadership

  • Develop & support a positive culture within your team
  • Motivate, evaluate, guide, develop & mentor the people on your team
  • Ensure the team is held accountable to performance commitments
  • Enable the success of your team by identifying and resolving any roadblocks
  • Staff Management (e.g. performance management, talent development, etc.

Engineering Operational Excellence & Business Operations

  • Drive identification and implementation of proactive continuous improvement actions which reduce cost, improve quality and throughput of Engineering processes
  • Implement use of data analytics, business intelligence tools (Power-BI) and Intelligent Process Automation (e.g. Robotic Process Automation)
  • Develop, status and coordinate l the Engineering overhead budget
  • Develop, manage & coordinate execution of the Engineering technical and leadership training plans to mitigate knowledge gap risks
  • Coordinate capital planning and facility re-configurations for the Engineering organization
  • Develop & maintain web-based software applications and databases for internal use
  • Support new business proposal development
  • Oversee & facilitate changes to engineering processes
  • Develop & execute an organizational strategic plan

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 10 or more years of relevant management & leadership experience
  • Demonstrated high level of autonomous decision-making ability, with excellent organizational, written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work multiple requirements, challenges and opportunities concurrently

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Driven dynamic leader with courage to drive change
  • Experience executing continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with intelligent process automation, data analytics and business intelligence tools
  • Financial and / or budgetary management / forecasting experience
  • Program management skills or experience
  • Familiarity with Engineering processes

Additional Qualifications

  • Able to work overtime when required
  • Limited travel may be required
  • Ability to report on-site as the primary work location
