About the Role:
The Wireless Network Engineer’s role is to plan, organize, and manage the wireless network for General Dynamics Land System (GDLS). This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the wireless networks at GDLS. The Wireless network engineer will also work with the rest of networks and infrastructure to support activities for expansion, refreshes, and redesigns of wireless infrastructure throughout the enterprise. Position is on-site and may require some (<10%) travel. The ideal candidate will have deep experience of networking technologies such as wireless network routing, WPA3 Enterprise, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), 802.1x, and other security protocols.

- 9-80 Work Schedule (This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off)

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Analyze current and upcoming business / application requirements and present wireless design solutions
- Provide recommendations for wireless standards
- Develop and deploy implementation scripts for the wireless design as well as maintenance
- Design changes and buildouts based on established infrastructure standards
- Document, internal review and deliver design
- Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to advance wireless services and ensure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain global policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration.
- Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with global colleagues and the leadership team.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
- Conduct site surveys of new and existing sites and develop suggestions and plans to improve wireless connectivity.
Position Requirements:
- Cisco Certified Network Administrator (or industry equivalent)
- 7 – 10 years’ experience
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible)
- Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
- Familiarity with Cisco Wireless LAN Controller environments
- Experience with Network Access Control, 802.1x, Security Posture and Profiling
- Familiarity with Cisco Identity Services Engine (Cisco ISE)
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Additional Information:
- Occasional travel required (<10%).
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
- Occasional inspection of cables in floors, closets and ceilings.
- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as servers and peripherals.
