Embedded Linux/BSP Software Developer

About the Role:

Embedded Software Developer role works on our Board Support Package or Software Loader / Verifier team. Join a dynamic group of software engineers responsible for the design, development and support of embedded software solutions for the world’s premier land-based combat vehicle producer.

 

On-site presence:

Due to the nature of the work, this role will require on-site presence up to 80-90%

 Responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Building and configuring VxWorks, Linux, or other embedded operating systems.
  • Perform Linux system programming tasks, including driver development and new hardware enablement on embedded Linux systems.
  • Integrate various software into build systems.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
  • Enable embedded system security using cryptography and secure architectures.
  • Manage individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / What you must have

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline (Software Development emphasis).

 

  • 3-5 years' experience in a Software role required
  • Ability to troubleshoot low level software issues and distinguish between hardware and software issues.
  • Capable of developing C and / or C++ code that can be maintained and updated over decades.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, learning capabilities, and multitasking capabilities.

 

Additional Skills desired:

  • Experience with Linux device drivers, bootloaders, or other system programming is a strong plus
  • Experience with safety critical systems or real time systems is desirable.
  • Experience with one or more build environments such as Build root and Open Embedded
  • Experience with GIT, DOORs, Jira / Bitbucket / Confluence, gdb, and QT is a plus
  • Familiarity with security features such as SELinux, verified boot and trusted execution environments is a plus.

 

Additional Information

This position requires eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.  (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)

  • The candidate will need to have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work overtime when required. (Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.)
  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • The work environment will be office, lab and vehicle if needed.
