About the Position:
The function of the Deputy Chief Engineer position is to assist leading vehicle system-level design, integration, build, and test activities for one of the General Dynamics Land Systems’ vehicle programs. This technical leadership position is responsible for executing Chief Engineer direction and guidance for vehicle system products, tasks, and managing the cross-functional technical scope within schedule and other constraints.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Responsible, with the Chief Engineer, for the overall technical design integrity, compliance, and robustness of a balanced system design and is accountable to program and engineering leadership
- Provide leadership, with the Chief Engineer, of technical decisions and authority to execute the overall technical scope and provide direction to the supporting IPTs and functional organizations for their program
- Responsibility, with the Chief Engineer, for ensuring that all technical products are developed and delivered and a good balanced design is achieved within cost and schedule constraints
- Responsibility, with the Chief Engineer, for the product design and resolution of architecture/design conflicts
- Manages, with the Chief Engineer, product development architecture/design (system, physical, data, communications, structure, survivability, thermal, etc.)
- Supports the Chief Engineer with approval of system architectures and any changes, conditions, inputs and final resolution for requirements, trades, and alternatives
- Responsible, with the Chief Engineer, for outcome of system trades, Key Performance Parameter (KPP) and Technical Performance Measurement (TPM) compliance, vehicle weight, power, and unit cost management
- Responsible, with the Chief Engineer, for interface definition and arbitration, physical/functional management and technical management of the product baseline
- Supports the Chief Engineer with approval of technical approval to the product structure documentation, Reliability Plan, and changes in interfaces or Size, Weight, Power & Cooling (SWaP-C) among subsystems
- Responsibility, with the Chief Engineer, for ensuring the overall product technical design integrity, design compliance with all requirements, and that the product will function as an integrated system within its intended environment
- Responsible, with the Chief Engineer, for leading design and integration troubleshooting/RCCA and problem report/test incident resolution for production, development, test, or modification projects
- Coordinate with System Integration and System Test to plan, execute, and coordinate physical and functional integration and test activities including bench, Shop, and Field sites. Manage overall Integration, Assembly, Test, & Checkout (IAT&C) of the vehicle.
- Supports the Chief Engineer with developing and evaluating checkpoint and design milestone artifacts and ensure technical accuracy and completeness.
- Participation in Engineering Release Plan (ERP) and drawing release activities
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 7 - 10 years of applicable experience
- Experience in design, development and integration of military vehicles
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles
- Self-motivated, self-starter, and strong independent leadership skills
- Works well in team and individually
- Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible)
